Charlie Browns "Advanced" Street-Fighting Martial Arts Secret PDF Print E-mail

A few weeks ago I was itemizing a "Peanuts" side-splitting strip in the unpaid that had this deeply fascinating street-fighting lesson in it.

Basically, the strip was about Linus (the kid who has the blanket and sucks his thumb all the time) and his nasty sister Lucy getting ready to practice boxing in the yard.

Anyway, before they started Lucy said, "let's wait until that plane flies over us first".

Linus, not hearing a plane in the sky, looks up and says, "what plane?"

Then...while he's looking up in the sky for the plane...

BAM!

Lucy socks him in the face, knocking him down.

As a street-fighting teacher, I got a huge kick out of that.

Why?

Because it was a perfect example of how to use "distraction" as a weapon...and instantly gain the upper hand in a fight

You see, when you're on the street, and someone is trying to attack you, one of the fastest and most effective things you can do is simply distract their attention, even if for a second.

Doing so will almost always buy you an extra second to either get away or get the first attack in and grab the high ground.

And the best part about this is, there's no limit to what you can use to distract an attacker.

You can throw your wallet on the ground, fake a heart attack, fling gravel in their face, pick up a nearby ally cat and throw it at the guy, anything you can think of.

The idea is to cause your attacker to hesitate -- even if for a second -- so you can gain the element of surprise.

If you want to get good at this, then think about 5 or 10 simple ways to distract an attacker and commit them to memory.

Why "Pay-Per-View" Martial Arts Training Sucks PDF Print E-mail

I'm concrete by now you've practical the so-called "reality based" foul play have fun the UFC and the other fights on pay per view.

And maybe like me, you spend a lot of time each week glued to the TV watching these competitions and enjoying every second of it.

Only problem is, while some of the best fighters in the world often compete in these tournaments...if you try to mimic them and learn from them...you'll find yourself in a heap of hurt on the street in a real fight.

Why?

Because, even though all these programs claim to be showing you "no rules" fights...they're far from it.

You see, to truly have "no rules" competition it'd have to be a two on one (or three, four, or five people on one) competition to make a mass attack possible...there'd have to be weapons available...and hurting, maiming and stable merry someone new would have to be allowed.

Obviously, that'd be a ball game too gruesome for the networks.

So what's my point?

Enjoy watching these shows, and let yourself be inspired.

But whatever you do...do not imitate these guys.

How Bruce Lee Trained In Martial Arts PDF Print E-mail

One of the biggest differences between street-fighting and the hundreds of antithetic uproar disciplines and philosophies...is the formula in which we train.

For example, Bruce Lee, the founder of popular day street-fighting, used to train as if he were in a real fight.

He knew, as savvy fighters today know, that what works in one area of combat, can get you crippled or even killed in another.

And so when Bruce and his student Dan Inosanto trained together, it wasn't uncommon for them to use Praying Mantis one moment, then switch to a Savate kick, then to Western Boxing, and end up with a choke on the ground -- all in one sparring session.

Every movement was dictated by what was needed by the moment.

There wasn't a lot of thought or meditation going on.
